The Women4Women (W4W) group has tasked women to serve as change agents by voting credible candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
The national coordinator, W4W, Monique Tawo, threw the challenge yesterday in Abuja at a one-day town hall meeting with some female aspirants and wives of the six area council chairmen in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Tawo, who said women must rise up to their responsibilities as mothers at the grassroots by sensitising everyone to cast their vote wisely, stated that the meeting was organised to educate women on their roles towards the upcoming election.
She also said that government should go back to the drawing board to understand that the women needed to be given her part in nation building.
She urged every woman whose husband was aspiring for political position to ask for the agenda for women and children, especially the girl-child and what they intended to do with the affirmative agenda.
The FCT coordinator, W4W, Hajiya Binta Ibrahim, said the sensitisation was taken to the grassroots level where a lot of politics was happening, adding “if we can get it right from the grassroots that will help people to understand better.”
